A dark comedy about familial love, obligation, and the weight of care. In their twenties, brother and sister try to carve out independent lives; New jobs, fledgling relationships, messy weekends. But they’re never really free. Their mother’s mental illness throws their world off balance: on constant suicide watch, burdened by worry and guilt, they struggle to grow up while carrying the weight of her care.

About Corkscrew
Anyone who has ever been involved in any show, anywhere, ever, knows that doing nothing isn’t really an option. Making theatre that entertains, moves, challenges and speaks to an audience is not easy. So we wanted to do a specific show and we found the perfect actors and we made a list and we made an enormous amount of mistakes in the planning and the budgeting and the venue choices. But it did turn out well (rather better than well truth be told) because we had got one thing completely right. We had surrounded ourselves with talented, adaptable, good humoured and understanding people.
So that has continued to be our plan. From actors to musicians to techies to costume designers, we always work with the most amazing people; so unlike Mr Henslowe, it’s no mystery to us when it all turns out fine.
